Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Congress has extended the deadline to file a claim after the impact of the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon fire. The original date was fast approaching, on November 14th. The new deadline is now December 20th. Those who were affected by the largest wildfire in New Mexico’s history now have more time but officials at the FEMA claims office encourage you not to wait. The head of the joint recovery office says extending the deadline is welcome news and for some people, essential for their personal recovery. For more information, go to fema.gov/hermits-peak
