Petroglyph vandal charged

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Garrett VeneKlasen, the northern conservation director of New Mexico Wild, calls the spray-painted vandalism of the La Cieneguilla Petroglyphs in 2022, a horrible, horrible act of disrespect and cruelty. The FBI and New Mexico Wild each offered a $5,000 reward for information on the vandal. Wednesday, a federal court indicted Jesse Foster for defacing the site in one of the incidents. He has three counts of damage to archaeological resources over five hundred dollars against him. Foster pleaded not guilty and has been released pending trial. VeneKlasen said, it’s a hate crime there should be zero tolerance for, and the person who did this should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
