NMDWS Labor Relations Division hosting rapid hire event

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions’ Labor Relations Division (LRD) will host a rapid hire event on Monday in Albuquerque to fill critical positions.

Staff will interview interested candidates on-site on Monday, June 17, between 1 and 5 p.m., and June 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the New Mexico Workforce Connection employment center located at 501 Mountain Rd NE in Albuquerque.

The division aims to fill more than a dozen positions including Wage & Hour State Investigator and Public Works Management Analyst roles during the event.

“Enforcing wage laws is a critical mission of our department,” said NMDWS Secretary Sarita Nair. “We are very grateful that the Governor and the Legislature responded to historic increases in wage claims by providing additional funding to handle these cases. The group that comes on board through this Rapid Hire event will join a dedicated team to tackle the pressing challenge of making sure everyone receives fair pay for their work.”

The LRD received $1.8 million in legislative funding to hire additional positions and procure office space and equipment. The Division completed a staffing plan based on the recurring budget to hire 14 State Investigator positions for the Wage & Hour unit, two Management Analyst positions for the Public Works unit, and a dedicated Staff Attorney position to assist the entire Division.

“Increases in staff will enable the Division to meet and exceed critical obligations,” said LRD Division Director Kimberly Souders. “These obligations include adherence to statutory and outside litigation requirements, maintaining a manageable caseload, reducing the risk of case backlog, providing education and outreach programs to employers, and increasing public and legislative confidence in our services.”

Applicants should bring multiple copies of an updated resume, their birth certificate, social security number, driver’s license, and proof of right to work in the United States, if applicable. Professional attire is recommended.
