Three special meetings for new BernCo Manager

Bernalillo County, NM (KKOB) – The County Manager Search Committee will hold three special hybrid meetings this week about the search for the county’s next chief executive. Each meeting will have time allotted for public comment to gather input from county residents, county employees, and other interested parties. There is also the possibility of a portion of each meeting being closed to allow for the Committee’s review of applications for the county manager position.

The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners has appointed five individuals from the community to sit on the search committee. The committee will vet and interview applicants and recommend a short list of candidates to the County Commission for consideration. The following individuals were appointed to the County Manager Search Committee: 

  • Juan Vigil (chair), former county manager 
  • Tim Cummins, former city councilor and county commissioner
  • Maggie Hart Stebbins, former county commissioner and New Mexico Natural Resources trustee
  • Yolanda Montoya-Cordova, former president of the Albuquerque Public School Board
  • Venice Ceballos, program operations director for Community Health Worker Initiatives

The county manager reports to the Board of County Commissioners and runs the day-to-day operations of the county. The current county manager, Julie Morgas Baca, is retiring June 30.
