Bernalillo County, NM (KKOB) — Bernalillo County and Paradise Hills Little League celebrated the completion of several significant improvements to the Paradise Hills Little League Park this morning with an inaugural “first pitch” event. Today’s event marks the end of a renovation project that began last fall.
“I’m proud of all of the hard work our BernCo team has put into this park to make it a comfortable and attractive place for our community’s kids and their families,” says District 4 Commissioner Walt Benson. “Our community deserves top notch facilities to partake in America’s pastime, and I’m glad to see that come to fruition here today.”
The project, which began last fall, included all new ADA-compliant concrete pathways and parking lot, new fencing for the fields’ backstops and privacy link fencing for their outfields, the installation of a crusher-fine warning track, red clay infields, and new gabion baskets (wire baskets filled with stones). New railings throughout the park were also installed, as was a seating area by the concession stand. The landscape also received several improvements, including new irrigation systems for the fields, new trees, and a new native seed area.
To celebrate the improvements, the league held a parade of teams, with a formal opening ceremony and presentation of colors, followed by the national anthem and the Little League Prayer. Paradise Hills Little League President Geno Rivera also announced the roster of its All-Star team for the 2024 season. Photos and Videos of the first pitch event are available here from WeTransfer.
