Bernalillo County, NM (KKOB) — Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca announced her intent to retire after 33 years of public service which included nine years as county manager.
County Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada will introduce a resolution at the March 19 Bernalillo County Commission meeting to establish an open and transparent public process in the selection of the next county manager.
The proposed process would include securing a professional recruitment firm by the end of March, conducting a series of town hall meetings in each commission district to gather input and establish an online stakeholder survey through the month of April. All information gathered will be presented to the commissioners who will select and interview finalists with the intent to announce a new county manager by June 14, 2024.
“Julie Morgas Baca has set a standard of collaboration with other government agencies, demonstrated fiscal responsibility and advanced the county to new levels of competency and service to residents,” says Commissioner Quezada. “This position is central and critical to all the operations of Bernalillo County and the overall process I am recommending will allow the board to select the best candidate with transparency to the public and beneficial input from the community.”
