New Mexico climate action meeting in Tucumcari

Tucumcari, NM (KKOB) — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) is hosting a climate action engagement meeting in Tucumcari, New Mexico on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

NMED staff and collaborators New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department and Center for Civic Policy will facilitate the informational meeting on priority climate actions for New Mexico and seek public input.

“Understanding what communities across New Mexico envision is an important part of creating the climate actions that work for our state,” said Environmental Protection Division Director Michelle Miano. “We look forward to engaging with community members in Tucumcari as we gather input on the climate action plan.”

The meeting will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the lecture hall in Building E at the North American Wind Research and Training Center on the Mesalands Campus, Tucumcari, New Mexico. Light food and refreshments will be provided.

Persons who need language services (e.g., assistance from an interpreter) or persons with disabilities who need services to participate in this public process should contact Amy Rosebrough (505-629-5559, [email protected]) by noon on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. The meeting is part of a four-year engagement process designed to solicit and incorporate community feedback into the state’s climate action plan. These efforts are funded by the $3 million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant that NMED received from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. More information is available here.
