Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The Multi-Agency Task Force is investigating an in-custody death after an adult male died after he was detained by officers.
APD officers in the area of 98th Street SW and Gibson Boulevard SW encountered a wrong way driver just before 2:00pm today. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the vehicle continued to drive the wrong way in traffic. The vehicle then crashed into a guard rail and utility box. The driver exited the vehicle, officers then detained the driver and called for medical assistance due to airbag deployment. While awaiting medical assistance, it is believed the driver was suffering from a medical episode.
Albuquerque Fire Rescue arrived on scene and pronounced the individual deceased.
