Bernalillo County, NM (KKOB) — Friday evening, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting at Atrisco Heritage High School, located at 10800 Dennis Chavez Blvd SW. The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:42 PM, resulted in the unfortunate death of 16- year-old Elijah Pohl-Morfin.
Initial response to the incident was by the Albuquerque Public Schools Police. Due to the nature of the
event and its tragic outcome, the investigation was subsequently handed over to the Bernalillo County
Sheriff’s Office.
Our investigators are actively working to understand the full scope of this incident. In relation to this
case, another juvenile, 16-year-old Adrian Martinez, has been detained and is facing charges including
involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.
We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Elijah Pohl-Morfin. The Bernalillo County
Sheriff’s Office is committed to a factual and thorough investigation of this matter. We appreciate the

As a direct consequence of this ongoing investigation, all basketball games scheduled today at Atrisco
Heritage High School have been canceled.
