Sunport prepares for influx of traffic during holiday travel period

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — This upcoming holiday travel season, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is anticipating airport security checkpoints will be busier than ever, and the agency is projecting that approximately 178,000 passengers will pass through the Sunport between Nov. 18-27.

“This holiday season will be one of our busiest ever,” said Richard McCurley, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque. “We have seen an influx of traffic all year long and expect it to continue. However, our staff, volunteers, concessionaires and airline partners are doing a phenomenal job managing this high volume. We look forward to welcoming more visitors to the Land of Enchantment.”

Due to the Sunport’s current, high traffic volumes, travelers are advised to make ample time to accommodate potential lines and delays. Parking is expected to be at full capacity.
