The NMSP go after Socorro criminals

Socorro, NM (KKOB) — New Mexico State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit (FAU), Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) and uniform officers focused their efforts on combating crime in Socorro after residents addressed their concerns about increased criminal activity.

In September of 2023, the CSU agents received anonymous requests made by citizens of Socorro county asking the New Mexico State Police for assistance addressing concerns they had in their community related to drugs, theft, and other various criminal activity. On November 18th and 19th, 2023, the above-mentioned units conducted “Operation Tech Town Take Down” in Socorro, NM. The goal of this operation was to saturate the city of Socorro and surrounding areas looking for wanted subjects, illegal narcotic activity, and other criminal activity.

The Operation ended in success with 10 felony arrests, 5 misdemeanor arrests, 1 handgun seized, 5.4 grams of meth seized, and 3 Fentanyl pills seized. 51 traffic stops were also conducted, over the two days.

New Mexico State Police will continue to partner with citizens, listen to their concerns and respond accordingly, to help bring a better quality of life to all of our New Mexico communities.
