Judge rules against Archdiocese of Santa Fe

Santa Fe, NM (KKOB)–A federal judge has rejected an attempt by the bankrupt Archdiocese of Santa Fe to block three lawsuits against the Church from moving forward.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, the suits accuse the archdiocese of transferring millions of dollars in property to individual parishes to shield the assets from settlements in sex abuse cases. The archdiocese says it will appeal the ruling, which allows lawsuits for hundreds of victims to proceed.

According to the ruling, the real estate assets the Church is accused of trying to shield could amount to more than $150 million.
