New Mexico back in the red

Santa Fe, NM (KKOB)–State Human Services Secretary David Scrase says a recent rise in coronavirus cases in New Mexico is most likely a result of Labor Day activities and trade with neighboring Texas. He says the most recent 14-day trend has put New Mexico back in the red category.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that the biggest increases in the state have been in Dona Ana, Lea, Chaves and Eddy counties.

State officials say the effects of the pandemic are also causing a mental health crisis, and prompting more people to enroll in Medicaid for health coverage.
