IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS, THE NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO DETENTION FACILITY IN CLAYTON WILL NO LONGER BE PRIVATELY-RUN. FLORIDA BASED-GEO GROUP SAYS IT WON’T RENEW ITS CONTRACT WITH THE STATE WHEN IT EXPIRES IN AUGUST. THE COMPANY SAYS IT CAN NO LONGER FEASIBLY RECRUIT AND RETAIN PERSONNEL AT THE PRISON, WHICH OPENED IN 2008. IT’LL NOW BE TAKEN OVER THE STATE. GEO GROUP SAYS IT WILL CONTINUE TO RUN THE GUADALUPE AND LEA COUNTY CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES.
