THEY HAVE A MOUNTAIN LION PROBLEM IN NEW MEXICO’S FOUR CORNERS AREA. A WOMAN IN HERMOSA TOOK A PHOTO OF A MOUNTAIN LION IN HER BACK YARD. JOE LEWANDOWSKI WITH THE PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT IN COLORADO SAYS HE’S NOT SURPRISED.
HE SAYS THE LIONS ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO EAT … PREFERABLY FOOD. AND LEWANDOWSKI TELLS KOB TV THAT MOUNTAIN LIONS LIKE FURRY THINGS TO EAT … LIKE RACOON, DEER, AND DOGS AND CATS. HE SAYS IF PEOPLE KEEP A DISTANCE FROM MOUNTAIN LIONS THEY SHOULD BE OKAY. THEY RARELY ATTACK HUMANS.
HE ALSO SAYS PEOPLE SHOULD MAKE SURE THEIR PETS ARE INSIDE OR AT LEAST IN A PEN AT NIGHT.
