IT APPEARS THE EFFORT TO BOOST STAFFING AT THE ALBUQUERQUE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS PAYING DIVIDENDS. APD SPOKESMAN GILBERT GALLEGOS SAYS A TOTAL OF 116 NEW OFFICERS ARE HITTING THE STREETS, SPREAD ACROSS THE CITY’S SIX AREA COMMANDS.
THE NEW OFFICERS REPRESENT THE FIRST PHASE OF THE PLAN TO FULLY STAFF APD BY ADDING AROUND 100 NEW OFFICERS EACH YEAR OF THE MAYOR’S FOUR YEAR TERM.
APD’S NEXT CADET CLASS STARTS AT THE POLICE ACADEMY THIS FALL WITH 50 RECRUITS.
