THE 16 YEAR OLD SANTA FE BOY ACCUSED OF KILLING HIS MOTHER’S BOYFRIEND WON’T BE GOING TO PRISON IF HE’S CONVICTED. BUT HUNTER WOODS WILL STILL LIKELY BE SENT TO JUVENILE DETENTION FOR THE ALLEGED CRIME IF HE’S FOUND GUILTY. THE SANTA FE NEW MEXICAN REPORTS A LESSER CHARGE AGAINST HIM MEANS HE CANNOT BE CHARGED AS AN ADULT.
RECORDS SHOW WOODS’ MOTHER CALLED 911, REPORTING 39 YEAR OLD RICARDO MAGANA TRIED TO ATTACK HER WITH A BAT. HER SON SHOT HIM DURING THAT INCIDENT. WOODS’ CHARGE HAS NOW BEEN REDUCED TO VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER.
THE SECOND DEGREE MURDER CHARGE WAS DISMISSED ON THURSDAY DURING A HEARING IN SANTA FE. THE CASE WAS REFILED IN JUVENILE COURT.
