A HEARING WILL BE HELD IN SANTA FE NEXT MONTH ON NEW RULES BEING PROPOSED FOR THE STATE’S MEDICAL CANNABIS PROGRAM. THE PROPOSAL WOULD LIMIT MARIJUANA CULTIVATION TO 1750 MATURE PLANTS PER LICENSED PRODUCER.
THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SAYS THE NEW PLANT LIMIT IS DESIGNED TO BALANCE CONCERNS ABOUT AVAILABLE MEDICAL CANNABIS SUPPLY, WHILE LIMITING THE RISK OF OVER-PRODUCTION. IF DEMAND OUTPACES SUPPLY, THE PRODUCTION CAP COULD GO UP IN TWO YEARS.
