THE PUBLIC EDUCATION STUDY COMMITTEE IS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A NEW ASSESSMENT TEST FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN NEW MEXICO . THE ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL REPORTS THE COMMITTEE’S PRIORITIES ARE NOW LISTED AS FINDING A NEW STANDARDIZED TEST AND AUDITING SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES IN NEW MEXICO. A TRANSITION TEST HAS BEEN PUT IN PLACE BUT WILL HAVE TO REPLACED AND A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS IS GOING OUT NEXT WEEK.
GWEN PEREA WARNIMENT, DEPUTY SECRETARY OF TEACHER, LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT … SAYS THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT IS ASKING FOR A COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM … LIKE THE ACT … FOR HIGH SCHOOL ASSESSMENT. THE STATE WOULD THEN PAY THE TAB ON THIS, SO STUDENTS COULD USE IT FOR FREE TO APPLY TO COLLEGES.
