ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, THE ALBUQUERQUE CITY COUNCIL WILL CONSIDER LEGISLATION THAT WOULD ALLOW ALBUQUERQUE FIRE-RESCUE TO RECOVER SOME COSTS RELATED TO MAJOR CRASHES. LANGUAGE IN THE LEGISLATION HAS BEEN ADDED TO CLARIFY THAT THE EFFORT DOES NOT SEEK DAMAGES FROM CITIZENS, BUT FROM INSURANCE COMPANIES.
THE NEW LEGISLATION ALSO STATES THAT COST RECOVERY WILL ONLY BE SOUGHT IF THE INCIDENT EXCEEDS 15-HUNDRED DOLLARS IN RESPONSE COSTS. A-F-R SAYS THE 15-HUNDRED DOLLAR THRESHOLD MEANS THE AVERAGE FENDER BENDER AND EVEN MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS WOULD BE EXEMPT.
