Duke City Zoo Welcomes Wolf Pups

THE EFFORT TO REINTRODUCE WOLVES TO THE SOUTHWEST, INCLUDING PART OF NEW MEXICO, TAKES A STEP FORWARD AT THE ALBUQUERQUE BIO-PARK. TWO PUPS WERE BORN THERE IN EARLY MAY. THE TWO, A MALE AND A FEMALE, WERE THE FIRST NEW WOLF ARRIVALS IN NEARLY 15 YEARS.

THE AS-YET UN-NAMED PUPS WERE BORN TO “KAWI” AND “RYDER”, BOTH FIVE YEARS OLD. THE BIO PARK WORKS WITH THE U-S FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE’S WOLF RECOVERY PLAN. SEVENTY-TWO MEXICAN WOLF PUPS HAVE BEEN BORN AT THE BIO-PARK SINCE 1983.
