IT’S OFFICIAL: THE FACULTY AT SANTA FE COMMUNITY COLLEGE NOW HAS A UNION, THANKS TO THE SCHOOL’S GOVERNING BOARD WHICH APPROVED A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT NOW WITH THE FACULTY’S NEWLY CREATED UNION. LINDA SIEGLE, CHAIRPERSON OF THE GOVERNING BOARD, TELLS THE ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL IT’S A POSITIVE OUTCOME FOR THE SCHOOL AND ITS LABOR RELATIONS NEGOTIATION PROCESS, NOTING THAT THE AGREEMENT WAS REACHED IN GOOD FAITH.

SANTA FE COMMUNITY COLLEGE FACULTY VOTED TO FORM THE UNION TWO YEARS AGO. THEY AFFILIATED IT WITH THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS.

THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE COLLEGE, REBECCA ROWLEY … WHO ASSUMES HER DUTIES IN JULY … TELLS THE JOURNAL SHE HAS EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH FACULTY MEMBERS AND KNOWS THEIR PERSPECTIVE AS SHE WAS ONCE A FACULTY MEMBER.
