FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS, LOOK FOR VERY HIGH RIVER FLOWS IN THE ALBUQUERQUE AREA. THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE CONSERVANCY DISTRICT SAYS, THANKS TO WELL ABOVE AVERAGE SNOWPACK, THE SPRING RUNOFF WILL BE THE HIGHEST WE’VE SEEN IN ALMOST 15 YEARS. THE HIGH FLOWS ARE EXPECTED TO PERSIST THROUGH JUNE, AND POSSIBLY WELL INTO SUMMER…CAUSING FLOODING ALONG THE BOSQUE.
THE DISTRICT SAYS IT’S ACTIVELY MONITORING AND MAINTAINING ITS LEVEES…PARTICULARLY THE OLDER ONES SOUTH OF ALBUQUERQUE.
