TWO OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTINGS IN ALBUQUERQUE … AND ONE IS STILL BEING INVESTIGATED. THE FIRST OCCURRED AT OLD COORS AND CENTRAL AFTER A LONG CAR CHASE WITH THE DRIVER OF A STOLEN VEHICLE WHO REFUSED TO STOP FOR STATE POLICE. THAT WAS JUST BEFORE 7PM THURSDAY. ONE ROUND WAS FIRED BY THE OFFICER, HITTING THE DRIVER IN THE SHOULDER. HE HAS SINCE BEEN ARRESTED. THE OTHER TWO PEOPLE IN THE CAR WITH HIM ESCAPED AND ARE BEING SOUGHT.
THE SECOND OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING OCCURRED ABOUT AN HOUR LATER IN THE NORTHEAST HEIGHTS AT LOMAS AND WASHINGTON. ONE STATE POLICE CAR HAS FRONT END DAMAGE AND IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. STATE POLICE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING.
