Mountain Runoff is Good for NM

BECAUSE OF THE RUNOFF FROM THE HEAVY SNOWFALL IN THE MOUNTAINS OVER THE WINTER, NEW MEXICO’S RIVERS ARE FILLING UP. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGIST BRIAN GUYER SAYS FLOODING IS EVEN A POSSIBILITY IN SOME AREAS. HE SAYS THE RIVERS ARE RISING AND GETTING CLOSE TO BANK-FULL. HE SAYS THEY EXPECT MINOR FLOODING IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.

GUYER SAYS BY LATE MAY, SOME OF THE MAJOR RIVERS IN NEW MEXICO WILL LIKELY BE AT THEIR HIGHEST LEVELS. HE SAYS IT’S TOO EARLY TO PREDICT POTENTIAL FLOODING ALONG THE RIO GRANDE IN THE ABQ AREA.
