THE FIRING OF A METRO DETENTION CENTER CORRECTIONS OFFICER HAS BEEN UPHELD. THE ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL REPORTS THAT AN INDEPENDENT ARBITRATOR RULED THAT FORMER JAIL SERGEANT ERIC ALLEN USED EXCESSIVE FORCE AT LEAST TWICE, AND THAT HIS FIRING SHOULD NOT BE SET ASIDE.
BERNALILLO COUNTY ATTORNEY KEN MARTINEZ TELLS THE JOURNAL THAT ALLEN WAS INVOLVED IN THREE EXCESSIVE FORCE LAWSUITS THAT COST THE COUNTY MORE THAN A MILLION DOLLARS.
ALLEN WAS FIRED IN MARCH OF 2018 AFTER BEING ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS.
