Making Central Avenue Safer

EVERYONE TOOK A HIT. THAT’S WHAT THE OWNER OF AMORE PIZZA IN ALBUQUERQUE TELLS KOB TV ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED WITH CRIME AFTER A-R-T CONSTRUCTION STARTED IN OCTOBER OF 2016. AND JESS CLOUD SAYS THAT CRIMINAL ACTIVITY PEAKED AFTER SEVERAL BUSINESSES ALONG CENTRAL AVENUE CLOSED DUE TO THE A-R-T CONSTRUCTION.

BUT THE CITY COUNCIL WILL ANNOUNCE ON THURSDAY A PROPOSAL THAT WOULD INVEST A MILLION DOLLARS IN A NEW POLICE INITIATIVE ALONG CENTRAL. IT’LL PAY TO HAVE 10 POLICE OFFICERS ON BICYCLES PATROL CENTRAL.

ADDITIONALLY, THE COUNCIL IS PROPOSING MARKETING AND PROMOTION GRANTS TO GET SHOPPERS TO “REDISCOVER ROUTE 66” AS A SHOPPING VENUE.
