Secretary of State Announces Senate Run

MAGGIE TOULOUSE OLIVER MAKES IT OFFICIAL:  SHE IS LAUNCHING HER CAMPAIGN TO BECOME THE FIRST WOMAN TO REPRESENT NEW MEXICO IN THE U-S SENATE. TOULOUSE-OLIVER WILL BE GOING UP AGAINST AT LEAST ONE OTHER DEMOCRAT… CONGRESSMAN BEN RAY LUJAN.

POLITICAL BLOGGER JOE MONAHAN SAYS POLITICAL RACES ARE EXPENSIVE, AND THIS ONE WON’T BE ANY DIFFERENT BECAUSE HE WONDERS IF TOULOUSE OLIVER CAN COMPETE WITH BEN RAY LUJAN’S CAMPAIGN CHEST OF UP TO 5-MILLION DOLLARS. MONAHAN THINKS MATCHING THAT WILL BE DIFFICULT FOR HER.

TOULOUSE OLIVER IS RUNNING FOR THE SENATE SEAT BEING VACATED BY TOM UDALL WHO IS NOT RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION. SHE’S CURRENTLY SERVING AS NEW MEXICO’S SECRETARY OF STATE AND DOES NOT HAVE TO GIVE UP HER POSITION IF SHE LOSES THE SENATE RACE.
