Albuquerque Could Get Closer to E-Scooters

ELECTRIC SCOOTERS MAY BECOME A REALITY IN ALBUQUERQUE AFTER ALL . LAST WEEK, BOSTON-BASED ZAGSTER APPLIED FOR A PERMIT WITH THE CITY TO OFFER E-SCOOTER RENTALS. CARMELINA HART WITH THE CITY’S PLANNING DEPARTMENT SAYS THE APPLICATION IS NOW BEING REVIEWED. SHE SAYS IF EVERYTHING IS CORRECT, THE NEXT STEP IS ALLOWING ZAGSTER TO BRING SCOOTERS INTO THE CITY.

HART SAYS IT WOULD BE A ONE-YEAR PILOT PROJECT, WITH A LIMIT OF 750 SHARED SCOOTERS.

LAST MONTH, TWO OTHER COMPANIES…BIRD AND RAZOR…DROPPED OUT OF THE PROCESS, SAYING THE CITY’S RULES WERE TOO RESTRICTIVE.
