Albuquerque to Help Immigrants

A HUNDRED MORE IMMIGRANT ASYLUM SEEKERS ARE CONFIRMED IN ALBUQUERQUE. MAYOR TIM KELLER HELPED WITH PROVIDING FOOD FOR THE IMMIGRANTS OVER THE WEEKEND. IN A PARTNERSHIP WITH NOB HILL, THE CITY IS WORKING TO PROVIDE BASIC SUPPORT FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS HERE LEGALLY AS THEY TRAVEL TO SPONSORS IN THE U-S.

THE CITY HOSTED A VOLUNTEER TRAINING LAST FRIDAY ON HOW BEST TO HELP ASYLUM SEEKERS. MAYOR KELLER IS ALSO WORKING WITH THE GOVERNOR, THE STATE HOMELAND SECURITY DEPARTMENT, THE UNM HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER AND OTHER PARTNERS ON A BUILDING FOR MIGRANTS SO THEY DON’T HAVE TO BE ON THE STREETS.
