AN ALBUQUERQUE MAN IS UNDER ARREST, CHARGED WITH STEALING AN A-F-R BATTALION CHIEF’S VEHICLE LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT, PROMPTING A POLICE CHASE. ANTHONY PACHECO ALLEGEDLY STOLE THE CHEVY TAHOE FROM FIRE STATION FIVE ON CENTRAL AVENUE. A-F-R SPOKESMAN TOM RUIZ SAYS, AT ONE POINT, PACHECO STARTED TOSSING ITEMS INSIDE THE VEHICLE ONTO THE ROAD. HE SAYS THEY’RE NOW CONDUCTING A INTERNAL INVENTORY OF THE ITEMS IN THE VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT’S BEEN DAMAGED OR IS POSSIBLE MISSING.
THE STOLEN S-U-V EVENTUALLY CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AT LOMAS AND SAN MATEO, BUT NO ONE WAS HURT. RUIZ SAYS THEY’RE NOW TRYING TO DETERMINE HOW PACHECO GOT INTO THE GARAGE AT THE FIRE STATION TO STEAL THE VEHICLE.
