A UNANIMOUS VOTE BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC REGULATION COMMISSION THIS WEEK MEANS IT COULD BE TOUGHER FOR THE STATE TO LURE BIG COMPANIES, LIKE FACEBOOK, TO LOCATE HERE IN NEW MEXICO. THE ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL REPORTS TUESDAY’S VOTE REQUIRES PNM TO BILL FACEBOOK FOR HALF OF THE COST FOR AN 85-MILLION DOLLAR TRANSMISSION LINE … A LINE PNM ASKED THE PRC FOR APPROVAL TO BUILD THIS PAST AUGUST.
THE OTHER HALF OF THE EXPENSE OF THE PROJECT WOULD BE BILLED TO PNM’S OTHER RATEPAYERS. MANY SAY THOSE OTHER RATEPAYERS WON’T BENEFIT FROM THE TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT.
PNM TELLS THE JOURNAL IT CANNOT COMMENT ON THE ISSUE RIGHT NOW. BUT IT PREVIOUSLY SAID EVERYONE … NOT JUST FACEBOOK … WOULD BENEFIT FROM THE PROJECT.
