ELECTRIC BUSES MAY NOT BE IN THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE FOR THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE’S RAPID TRANSIT ROUTE, BUT THEY COULD PLAY A ROLE IN THE FUTURE. THAT’S ONE REASON ALBUQUERQUE MAYOR TIM KELLER IS TOURING A 40 FOOT ELECTRIC BUS BUILT BY AMERICAN BUS MANUFACTURER “PROTERRA.”
THE IDEA TO USE ELECTRIC BUSES ON THE “A-R-T” ROUTE DIED WHEN CITY HALL DETERMINED THAT NONE OF THE VEHICLES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE MET THE SPECS FOR THE ROUTE. KELLER, ALONG WITH OTHER CITY OFFICIALS, WILL TOUR THE “PROTERRA” ELECTRIC BUS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT THE YALE TRANSIT FACILITY.
