Fire Damages Apartment Complex; Injures Five

A FIRE THAT STARTED EARLIER TUESDAY MORNING IN NORTHEAST ALBUQUERQUE IS OUT. SOME VICTIMS WERE BELIEVED TO STILL BE IN THE APARTMENT COMPLEX, SIERRA MEADOWS, AND WE NOW KNOW ONE CHILD IS REPORTED MISSING.

THE FIRE STARTED SHORTLY AFTER 2:00 TUESDAY MORNING NEAR EUBANK AND MONTGOMERY ON THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE COMPLEX. THERE WAS SMOKE DAMAGE TO A SECOND BUILDING. FIVE PEOPLE WERE INJURED WITH THREE OF THOSE PEOPLE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. TWO OF THE INJURED WERE CHILDREN … AGES 13 AND 2 … WHO ARE IN CRITICAL CONDITION. A THIRD IS AN ADULT WOMAN WHO’S IN STABLE CONDITION.

AT LEAST SEVEN FAMILIES WERE DISPLACED AND ARE BEING ASSISTED NOW BY THE RED CROSS. NO WORD SO FAR ON THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE.
