Mayor Unveils Anti-Gun Violence Plan

TACKLING GUN VIOLENCE IN ALBUQUERQUE IS GOING TO TAKE SOME NEW APPROACHES. THAT’S ACCORDING TO MAYOR TIM KELLER WHO, ON MONDAY, ANNOUNCED A NUMBER IS INITIATIVES DESIGNED TO REDUCE GUN VIOLENCE IN THE COMMUNITY. IT INCLUDES DATA DRIVEN POLICING TO DEAL WITH PROBLEMS AND THE TECHNOLOGY OF THE GUN INTELLIGENCE CENTER. THE CENTER INFORMS HOW TO TRACK DOWN THE WEAPONS AND THE PEOPLE WHO USE THEM.

APD WILL BE USING A “GUN-SHOT” RECOGNITION SYSTEM THAT WILL GREATLY IMPROVE RESPONSE TIMES TO CRIME SCENES.

KELLER SAYS THE SHARING OF INFORMATION BETWEEN ALL AGENCIES AND DEPARTMENTS IS ANOTHER CRITICAL TOOL IN REDUCING GUN VIOLENCE.
