More Open Space to Come?

WHEN ALBUQUERQUE ADDED 39 ACRES OF OPEN SPACE LAND LATE LAST MONTH, IT BROUGHT THE TOTAL TO MORE THAN 29-THOUSAND ACRES ACROSS THE CITY. AND THAT NUMBER IS LIKELY TO GET EVEN BIGGER EVENTUALLY.

PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR DAVE SIMON SAYS HIS DEPARTMENT HAS A ON-GOING PROGRAM TO IDENTIFY AND PROTECT KEY LANDS FOR OPEN SPACE. HE SAYS ALBUQUERQUE VOTERS HAVE BEEN VERY SUPPORTIVE OF THE PROGRAM WITH THEIR TAX DOLLARS, AND SIMON SAYS AS LONG AS THEY HAVE THAT SUPPORT, THEY’LL WORK TO SAVE SPECIAL PARTS OF ALBUQUERQUE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.

ALBUQUERQUE’S OPEN SPACE PROGRAM HAS BEEN AROUND FOR 35 YEARS.
