MOTORISTS HEADING NORTH THROUGH NEW MEXICO WON’T HAVE TO STOP AT A BORDER PATROL CHECKPOINT, AT LEAST NOT FOR NOW. THE ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL REPORTS THE BORDER PATROL HAS CLOSED ALL FIVE CHECKPOINTS IN NEW MEXICO AND ONE IN WEST TEXAS. ALL THE PERSONNEL AT THOSE CHECKPOINTS HAVE BEEN RE-ASSIGNED TO THE BORDER TO HELP WITH THE INFLUX OF UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.
THE JOURNAL REPORTS, IN THE LAST MONTH, AGENTS HAVE BEEN TAKING INTO CUSTODY AN AVERAGE OF 600 PEOPLE A DAY.
