AN ALBUQUERQUE CITY COUNCILOR WHO PROPOSED THE LEGISLATION TO MAKE E-SCOOTERS LEGAL IN ALBUQUERQUE SAYS HE’S FEARFUL THAT MAY NEVER HAPPEN. PAT DAVIS TELLS NEWSRADIO KKOB THE RULES AND REGULATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN PROPOSED FOR SCOOTER COMPANIES ARE TOO STRICT. DAVIS SAYS THE REGULATIONS ARE “WAY OUT OF WACK” IN COMPARISON TO WHAT OTHER CITIES HAVE PROPOSED.
CARMELINA HART WITH THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT SAYS THE REGULATIONS WERE BASED ON RESEARCH THAT THE CITY DID. SHE SAYS TWO COMPANIES, BIRD AND RAZOR, HAVE SAID THEY WON’T BE DOING BUSINESS WITH ALBUQUERQUE…BUT THE CITY IS STILL TALKING TO OTHER COMPANIES.
