Street Light Trouble for Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE HAS PROBLEMS WITH SOME OF ITS STREET LIGHTS. THE ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL REPORTS A MAN IDENTIFIED AS JOHN BENAVIDEZ NOTICED THAT A NUMBER OF STREET LIGHTS NEAR HIS HOME DOWNTOWN WERE OUT. HE CALLED 311 TO REPORT IT, BUT THEY TOLD HIM PNM OWNS THE LIGHTS.

BENAVIDEZ SAYS HE REPEATEDLY CALLED PNM OVER THREE YEARS ABOUT THE LIGHTS. PNM FINALLY RESTORED SOME OF THE LIGHTS ON MLK AVENUE WEST OF I-25. BUT BENAVIDEZ IS UPSET. HE TELLS THE JOURNAL HE OFTEN RUNS AT NIGHT, BUT NO LIGHTS MAKE THAT DANGEROUS.

THE CITY AND PNM OWN THE STREET LIGHTS … WITH THE CITY OWNING 21-THOUSAND LIGHTS AND PNM OWNING NEARLY 12-THOUSAND LIGHTS.
