HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD ALBUQUERQUE CITY COUNCILORS HAVE IN THEIR DISCRETIONARY FUND? COUNCIL PRESIDENT KLARISSA PENA WANTS TO INCREASE THE LIMIT FROM 5-THOUSAND TO 40-THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR. BUT NOT EVERYONE LIKES THE IDEA. COUNCILOR TRUDY JONES SAYS THE EXTRA MONEY WOULD HAVE TO COME OUT OF THE OPERATING BUDGET:
JONES SAYS CITY COUNCILORS REALLY DON’T HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR THE MONEY THEY SPEND THROUGH THE DISCRETIONARY FUND…AND INCREASING IT BY EIGHT FOLD WOULD BE A DISSERVICE TO TAXPAYERS.
