THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION IN SANTA FE ENDS THIS SATURDAY AND A LOT STILL HAS TO BE DONE. THE ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL REPORTS LAWMAKERS HAVE ESCALATED THEIR CONFLICT OVER A BILL THAT HIKES THE MINIMUM WAGE, BUT THEY’VE ALSO COME TO AN AGREEMENT ON A COMPLEX ENERGY BILL.
AT STAKE RIGHT NOW ARE AN AGREEMENT ON HOW THEY’D SPEND THE BIG MONEY THE STATE IS MAKING FROM THE OIL BOOM. THEY ALSO NEED TO RESPOND TO A LANDMARK COURT RULING ON EDUCATION AND WHETHER OR NOT THE STATE WILL GET AN ETHICS COMMISSION. AND MEASURES THAT ARE STILL HANGING IN THE BALANCE ARE ONE TO LEGALIZE RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA AND OTHERS TO RAISE TAXES OR REPEAL AN ANTI-ABORTION LAW.
