THE BILL’S SPONSOR, ALBUQUERQUE DEMOCRAT MIMI STEWART, SAYS THE OLD SYSTEM PUNISHED TEACHERS…WHILE THE NEW ONE WILL FOCUS ON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
THE BILL CALLS ON THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO DEVELOP A NEW EVALUATION SYSTEM BY JULY FIRST. SCHOOLS WILL THEN BE REQUIRED TO IMPLEMENT THE FINALIZED SYSTEM BY OCTOBER.
