Council and Mayor Differ on Capital Project

ALBUQUERQUE MAYOR TIM KELLER SAYS THERE’S STILL TIME TO WORK THINGS OUT AS THE CITY COUNCIL PREPARES TO VOTE ON A FINAL CAPITAL PROGRAM NEXT MONTH. THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL ARE NOT SEEING EYE-TO-EYE ON ONE ASPECT OF THAT PROJECT. KELLER SAYS THE 2-AND-A-HALF MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT TO ALLEVIATE TRAFFIC AT BALLOON FIESTA WITH A NEW FREEWAY RAMP WOULD HAVE A GREAT RETURN ON THE INVESTMENT. BUT THE CITY COUNCIL ELIMINATED THAT PROJECT FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM.

THE ISSUE GOES TO VOTERS THIS FALL. AGAIN, THE COUNCIL VOTES ON A FINAL CAPITAL PROGRAM IN APRIL.
