EXPECT TOPGOLF TO OPEN IN ALBUQUERQUE NEXT SUMMER. THE DALLAS-BASED COMPANY HAD ITS GROUNDBREAKING ON WEDNESDAY ON THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF MONTGOMERY AND I-25. IT’LL BE AN INDOOR GOLF ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX WITH A RESTAURANT.
TOPGOLF WILL HIRE A TOTAL OF 300 PEOPLE WITH MORE THAN 200 OF THE NEW HIRES BEING NEW MEXICANS. THE AGREEMENT CALLS FOR 132 OF THOSE JOBS TO BE FULL TIME. IF TOPGOLF FAILS TO PROVIDE THOSE JOBS, THERE ARE CLAWBACKS THAT INCLUDE PENALTIES.
TOPGOLF’S INCENTIVE PACKAGE FROM ALBUQUERQUE AND BERNALILLO COUNTY COMES TO 4-POINT-3 MILLION DOLLARS AND, IN JUNE, THE COUNTY SIGNED OFF ON 250-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN LEDA FUNDS AND 1-AND-A-HALF MILLION DOLLARS FOR SALES TAX REIMBURSEMENTS FOR THE PROJECT.
