A BILL CHANGING THE WAY TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS IN NEW MEXICO ARE EVALUATED IS NOW HEADED TO THE STATE SENATE. THAT AFTER IT WON APPROVAL TUESDAY IN THE HOUSE. CHANNEL 13 NEWS REPORTS THE BILL WOULD REDUCE THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT SCORES USED IN THE RATINGS FROM 35 TO 15 PERCENT. AND IT WOULD GIVE MORE WEIGHT TO STUDENT FEEDBACK AND INPUT.
A BROADER FRAMEWORK WOULD ALSO BE USED TO EVALUATE THE WORK OF PRINCIPALS.
