Paul Krebs Goes to Court

PROSECUTORS SAY THE NEXT STEP IN THEIR CASE AGAINST FORMER UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO ATHLETIC DIRECTOR PAUL KREBS WILL BE A PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION. THAT’S WHERE THEY’LL TRY TO ESTABLISH THAT THEY HAVE PROBABLE CAUSE THAT KREBS ACTED CRIMINALLY WHEN HE HEADED UP THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT.

THE ABQ JOURNAL REPORTS THAT KREBS MADE A BRIEF APPEARANCE IN DISTRICT COURT IN ALBUQUERQUE LAST FRIDAY, BUT WAS NOT ASKED TO ENTER A PLEA. KREBS FACES EIGHT CRIMINAL COUNTS RELATED TO A FUND RAISING GOLF TRIP TO SCOTLAND IN 2015. THE CHARGES INCLUDE MONEY LAUNDERING, TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE, AND FRAUD.
