EIGHT-HUNDRED-THOUSAND DOLLARS IS AVAILABLE FOR A VARIETY OF RECYCLING AND CLEAN-UP PROGRAMS FROM THE NEW MEXICO ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT. JOAN SNIDER IS WITH THE DEPARTMENT. SHE SAYS THERE ARE SOME CONDITIONS IN PLACE REGARDING THE GRANT MONEY. TWO THIRDS OF THE FUNDING PROJECTS DEALING WITH MANAGING SCRAP TIRES, AND A THIRD OF THE MONEY GOES TO RECYCLING AND ILLEGAL DUMPING THAT ARE NOT SCRAP TIRES.
THE GRANTS ARE DESIGNED FOR MUNICIPALITIES, COUNTIES, SOLID WASTE AUTHORITIES, COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATIONS, LAND GRAND COMMUNITIES AND PUEBLOS. THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS MARCH 29TH.
