UNM Students Getting Pets in Dorms

UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO STUDENTS WHO MISS THEIR PETS GET A CHANCE THIS COMING FALL SEMESTER TO LIVE WITH PETS IN THEIR DORM ROOM. IT’S A PILOT PROGRAM RIGHT NOW, AND IT’S LIMITED TO THE SANTA CLARA DORM AND STUDENT RESIDENT CENTER BUILDINGS WHERE STUDENTS LIVE IN APARTMENTS OFF CAMPUS.

THE DOG HAS TO WEIGH NO MORE THAN 40 POUNDS. IT’LL COST MOST STUDENTS ABOUT 150 DOLLARS EXTRA…75 DOLLARS MORE FOR SMALLER ANIMALS. UNM SAYS IT STARTED THE PILOT PROGRAM TO TEACH STUDENTS LIFE SKILLS OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM.
