NM Spring Runoff in Good Shape

It should be a good summer for water sports in New Mexico. That’s the word from State Engineer Tom Blaine, who says we’re experiencing above-average runoff in most of the basins and rivers across the state.

Blaine tells News Radio KKOB that should translate into a good year for rafting along the upper Rio Grande. And although the lake level at Elephant Butte is a little less than normal, at around 25% of capacity, Blaine says that still leaves plenty of water for outdoor recreation. He says islands that appeared in the lake last summer are now gone.
