A body found in ditch Saturday morning is one of three deaths Albuquerque Police are now investigating. The body of 37-year-old Eric Manning was found near Montgomery and I-25. Manning is from Albuquerque.
Officers were initially sent to the location on calls of a “down and out.” There they found Manning and soon realized he was deceased. Police are investigating his death as a murder but have no leads. If you know anything about Manning’s death, contact Crimestoppers at 843-STOP.
An elderly woman was also found dead Saturday morning. APD officers found her body inside her Northeast Heights home. Police are investigating her death as a homicide.
Officers were sent to the woman’s home after getting calls from her neighbors that her dog was loose in the street. When officers arrived, they found the 87-year old woman dead inside the house, where neighbors say she had lived for 40 years.
A man who turned up at University Hospital last Friday with a gunshot wound later died of the injury. He’s identified as 32-year-old James Jaquez. The police investigation led officers to a home in the 500 block of Caguq Southeast and the arrest of Marcos Xavier Herrera on Saturday. Charges against Herrera include an open count of murder, trafficking meth, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Herrera is now in the Metro Detention Center.
